I wear a 9M shoe for everything. I have trouble buying comfy shoes because they always seem to fit oddly, but I am a solid 9M. I bought these in a 9.5M based on the fit of a different style of Sorel boot. The fit across the top of my foot is a tiny bit snug, but that's not too uncommon for me.Though a wide shoe is too big for me, I do feel as if I have a bit of a wide foot. The heel of this boot fits loose. Not having worn a real winter boot for years I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I have gotten used to it, however, and it doesn't seem to drag my sock down. That was my big concern, but so far so good! They are not a super warm boot, but for running around town and not doing heavy winter sport activities they are ideal! The laces are a little slippery and a double-knot isn't a bad idea. I have had them come undone while walking through snowdrifts and that allows all the snow to come in at the top as they gape. I wore them for the first time because of a massive snowstorm dumping about 2 feet within 36 hours on my town. They were very serviceable and I look forward to dry, surefooted walking this winter!ONE YEAR LATER:While I love this boot for the one year and two months that I wore them I will never buy another pair or Sorels again. I spent the money for a quality boot I was hoping would last a good 2-3 years minimum. I purchased a trusted brand and I am disappointed in the quality. My boot leaks. After 14 months of wear, the heel is worn down showing a flaw in the design. It’s not a solid rubber sole and water now leaks in when I take a walk on my lunch break and soaks the entire inner sole. I have been urged to contact the company, by the handy-dandy tool on their website to determine if Sorel will listen to me has emphatically said “No.” I am past their 1 year warranty having purchased these boots in November of 2016. They will not be held responsible for anything before January 2017 at this time.These boots did not have heavy wear as you can see by the rest of the sole. Just light walking out and about to my job or the store. Occasionally a thirty minute walk around the block on city sidewalks, usually covered in snow.If you are looking for a boot that will last, look elsewhere. If you will only give this boot very minimal wear than I can highly recommend it as the style and design are great. Sadly, I will never buy another pair of Sorels again.
