Description

The equestrian-inspired style of the Frye Melissa Belted Tall boot offers a streamlined silhouette that complements your favorite jeans and skirts. The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

Frye got my attention, because they are one of the few companies who give measurments for the shaft opening and height of their boots. I made use of that information and measured my feet to determine my shoe size, at 9.8 inches lenth and 31/2 inches width I am a womens size 9 on the narrow side of a normal width (B). I measured the circumference of my calf at the widest point, which is 15 inches. Frye reports that the shaft height is 14 1/2 inches from the instep of the boot to the top of the shaft. On my leg this means the top of the boot is 2 inches below of where my knee bends. This may be a little more helpful than “ I have average feet, calves , legs or height”. :-)Result: The boots fit perfectly and are very comfortable. There is enough room in the shaft to tuck a pair of jeans into the boots, but not so much that they look funny and give a big gap at the top when I wear leggins or a skirt. The leather is soft, but nice and sturdy, the lining of the shaft and boot is leather, so no stinky feet. The leather sole was a pleasant surprise, not as slick as some other leather soled shoes I own. The boots are true to size, the price of the boots compared to the materials and workmanship is very fair. I will buy from Frye again. The boot design and how it fits are the only two things going for its. The problem with this boot is that it is poorly, finished even the sole and heels. I returned it. This will make it the second time that I returned this item. I like the designed but the finished product does not worth the cost. I do not know if the company can look at my order and make sure I get a better finished product. I will try ordering it for the third and last time. Please look at my review to make sure you and I are not wasting our time by me ordering and you sending me a poorly finished product. This time around not only the heels but the actual leather is stained. These boots fit perfect and are very cute on!I love Frye boots, and have calves that are on the larger size - and these fit perfectly and I can make them work over jeans, which was exciting! These are a great basic that works with fall sweater weather. They are a bit tight through my lower calf, so I have to make sure that my socks/pants aren't scrunched down or they can be uncomfortable, however, I recommend them for other ladies with the bigger calves.I love the look and feel of these boots but they seem awfully small for the size.I must have lucked out as there are so many negative reviews. These are authentic Frye boots, so pretty and comfortable. A friend who works in Nordstrom’s shoe dept. told Me the white stuff on the outside is from leather treatment and brushes off and it did. A very soft leather. Smells like leather. I bought the black color...Love this boot. Works so well with different outfits. I’ve only had them for a couple of months but always wanted a pair I could own for several years since other boots seem to break after a season. Hoping they hold up. I waited until they were discounted. Wouldn’t buy they for original cost.My feet are very thin and boney. The heel area is a little lose but with thicker socks are a nice fit. Perfect height.Well made. Fit well. It’s difficult to find quality like this but here it is!Gorgeous and unique colour. Fits just perfectly. This is my second pair of frye boots!Beautiful craftmanship
